My Decision+ GIVEAWAY!!

You may have noticed that I’ve started posting more often about my faith on Americangirlguide. For a while I’ve been trying to figure out how to use my hobbies to honor God and to serve Him.

I’ve thought about joining a Christian collab blog because those have been so inspirational to me, but decided to scratch that idea. The other day I felt really strongly I needed to start my own blog dedicated to encouraging people, writing on topics of faith, and helping people through hard times.

I got the name for it “When You Pass Through the Waters” from one of my favorite verses:

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; -Isaiah 43:2-3a

So please spread this around! I hope it will really encourage people in their faith and bring them closer to God. Here is a link to it.

Side note: was already taken so my url is just wanted to clear that up.

Now, since my blog three year anniversary recently passed, I’m starting a new blog, I reached 230 followers, and you are all so supportive, I thought it would be really fun to have a giveaway!!

I thought long and hard about what to giveaway and finally I decided to give you……….

A coloring Bible!!!!

I got mine for Christmas and I love using it. It has helped me memorize Bible verses and I love to use it as a way to relax. It is a great creative outlet for me. Even if you are not a creative person it has pre-made designs you can color in. I love that the margins are lined so you can write or make your own design on them. If you win this giveaway, you will be receiving one NIV Beautiful Word coloring Bible, Hardcover Bible.

Now onto how to enter:

  • You must ask a parent if you are under 18 (I will need your address if you win).

Having Joy Through Hardships

Right now, I’m sick. It is Good Friday. We have a program at our church but I’m home because I have a very low-grade fever and mainly just feel too tired to go.

About a week ago I began memorizing James 1:5, for a few days I was studying the surrounding passage. It is about having joy during trials and asking God for wisdom on how to be joyful in trials. I posted about joy a few months ago and here I am again. God must be showing me something 😉

Before I continue I want to make a disclaimer and say, yes, I am aware that getting sick is not considered a trial to everyone and definitely not as big as being persecuted for your faith or a family members death.

Right now, this is what I’m struggling with. It feels like a big deal to me because I love the traditions I have with my family at Easter and want to enjoy them. I also am planning on spending spring break at the beach with my friend for her birthday and have really been looking forward to that. None of this will happen if I’m sick, but God has taught me through this.

In front of people I’ve had a lot more trouble trusting God than by myself. I’ve been praying James 1:5 and I keep giving my worries back to God. It has brought me closer to God. This is teaching me to trust God. He has a plan. He will redeem the bad things that happen in our lives for good.

Your trial is probably different from mine. We all get them at some point or another. God uses everything for His glory, even our mistakes or Satan’s schemes. You are right. I don’t know what you are going through. Yes, I’m sure it is hard not to question God or wonder why this is happening.

Try to give it to Him. I’ve spent more time with God the past few days then I have since the missions trip I went on maybe. It feels good. Spending time with God doesn’t just mean praying and scripture reading, though it can. I’ve been listening to an amazing Spotify playlist of praise music. I’ve been doing some Bible journaling as well. Something I have been praying is that God won’t let me waste this opportunity to serve him.

Whatever kind of struggle you are going through. Look at it as a way to practice joy and pray that God will not let you waste this wonderful opportunity.

Have a fun spring break!

***UPDATE: I’m better and had a wonderful Easter and I’m at the beach right now.***

Handsome Isn’t All, Neither Is The Limp

Wow. I was reading the posts in my reader and this one really touched me. Take the time to read Cynthia’s post.

A Sweet N Simple Life

Did I catch your attention with the title? Good. I knew I would. Now hopefully I can keep it….. 🙂

I immediately noticed the young man walking by. Tall, dark brown hair, handsome face with a pleasant, friendly look about him. But then, I noticed something else only a moment later. Something that surprised me. Although young, probably not even college age, he walked with a limp. And not just a small limp. He could have been born with it, it could have been from a sports injury, he could have been in a car accident, the list could continue. But whatever the source of the limp was, that young man would possibly have to live with it for the rest of his life. As I watched him go by, something jumped out at me. What stuck out to me wasn’t just the way that his one foot dragged a little behind the other. I…

Delicious cookies (yes, that is their name) Recipe

Snow has returned…… I don’t know about you, but on frigid, cold days I love to munch on cookies. Where I live the weather has changed overnight from sweet spring back to wild winter.

I was looking back through a random folder of pictures I had taken and noticed a while ago (May 2016) I made some of MY MOST FAVORITE EVER COOKIES (don’t think that was grammatically correct but whatever). I thought it would be fun to share the recipe with you today using those old pictures. Warning; they aren’t the best because it was at night when I made these so there is a yellowy tinge to the pictures.

The cookies are called ‘delicious cookies’  because they are so tasty! My great grandma also are called them schoolhouse cookies because they make a big batch. Let’s hop right into the post.

1 C. (each)  butter, salad oil (I used vegetable), brown sugar, white sugar, Rice Krispies, oatmeal, and shredded coconut

1 egg

1 tsp. (each) coconut flavoring (optional), cream of tartar, baking soda, salt

2 tsp. vanilla extract

1/2 tablespoon imitation butter

12 oz. milk chocolate chips

3 1/2 C. flour

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Soften your butter in the microwave. I softened mine a little too much XD

Add in all your ingredients! Yup, all at the same time 😉

I would suggest mixing in the normal cookies stuff before adding in the chocolate chips, Rice Krispies, and coconut. It will make it easier to mix.

This is what the completed batter looks like.

Scoop the batter onto a cookie sheet (you don’t need to grease them ).

Pop them in the oven until done. For us this is usually about 10 minutes. Let them sit for a minute on the tray before transferring them to a cooling rack.

Now eat these amazing cookies and then leave me a comment thanking me for introducing you to this amazingness 😉 😉 NOM, NOM

Just kidding!

I hope you like this recipe. Please let me know if you have any questions about the recipe or if you decide to try them out.

Have a wonderful week!

Everyone Except for Samantha (agdollawesome) Please Read This!

I thought this was such a sweet idea by Julia. Check it out and pass it on! If you are Samantha (agdollawesome) DO NOT READ THIS!

Love My Dollies

Hello My Beautiful Internet Beans!

Except for you Samantha. If your reading this.. GET OUT. (You’ll find what this is all about eventually. For now, please have patience, and leave 🙂 ) I’ll give you some time to leave.

Okay, now that Samantha is gone, let’s get on to today’s topic.

Samantha’s birthday happened recently, (December 31st to be specific), and to celebrate her birthday I’m going to make her a poster. I am going to put “Happy Birthday Samantha! ~The Online AG Community” in the middle. On the outside, well that’s where I need your help. On the outside, around the words I’m going to fill it up with names.

More specifically your names. The names of the online AG community.

So, if you want to be apart of this, simply comment that your name, and that you…

I don’t normally re-blog things, but I really liked Kellyn’s post and I wanted to share it with you guys. -Rebekah

imageSome people believe in the ‘age of accountability.’ Essentially, this means that, until a certain age (most say twelve or thirteen), children are not accountable for their actions as they are not old enough to choose Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

This way, infants – especially those who died before birth due to miscarriage or abortion – would be able to get to heaven despite the fact that they never became Christians in the traditional sense of believing in Jesus, etc.

However, this idea doesn’t really make sense to me. I want it to be true … but children choose to be the little brats they are (’cause I know I did! Do, actually … I’m not past being a little brat … only now I’m a big brat … and pretty soon I’ll be adult brat … it’s really not cool!) it’s not mentioned in the Bible. It says in…

BIBPC Challenge #1

GUYS. BIBPC IS BACK!!! You have no clue how exctied I am for the second round 😀 I am on Team Goldfinch. AHHH, they are such a pretty bird. I know I’ve been a horrible blogger, blah, blah, blah, but we are just going to ignore that and move on. Now, let me show you my picture!!!

This is from a really fun photo shoot I took last year. The rain had just started to fall and it was summer. Everything had a few tiny water droplets on it. This picture shows a small flower bud, something we usually over look.    Small things can make a big difference in our lives, from a beautiful bud to a kind word, we never know the outcome of helping someone or being kind.

Well, that’s it for my first post about BIBPC, I hope you liked it. Look for more posts soon.

Ugh, I’m doing this on my iPod. That means no signature. Bye!

Last Challenge for BIBPC!

I’m back from my busy weekend. I had so much fun-even with the negative temperature and little snow 🙂 I’m working on normal posts again even with this busy schedule. I wanted to make sure could squeeze in my last picture for Megan’s Boring Into Beautiful Photography Challenge. Megan, I have had so much fun participating in this challenge and have gone through a lot of old pictures and looked at my progress. When I saw this picture I just knew that it was the right one. It’s boring (a weed) but it’s beautiful and it reminds me that God created everything, down to the tiny weeds we squish between our feet.

Thank you so much Megan for an awesome opportunity. I would love to do it again!PicMonkey Collage BIBPC

Here is my poster, it’s more of a collage then a poster, but whatever. I hope everyone doing BIBPC doesn’t mind that I used one of their pictures. If you’re wondering who took what picture comment below. There is one from every person who participated!

Once again, thank you Megan! Have a marvelous Monday everyone.

Christmas Pictures of My Pets

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE’S EVE! Did that make any sense? Haha, today I’m going to be showing you some Christmas pictures of my pets! Are you ready to see them?

A Christmas Challenge

First up, my oldest pet. Meet Alex, he is 5(I think) and he is a big, fat tabby cat:D (both of his pictures are taken in my brothers bunk bed by the way)

Here he is wearing an American Girl Doll santa hat. I was glad he was even cooperating, even though you can’t really see him. He is adopted and I love him very much!

Next, my adorable dog Allie! I like to thing of her as a puppy even though she is 4! She is a mutt and a rescue.

Here she is wearing an elf hat. It took a lot of treats for her to sit:D Sorry the lighting isn’t that good, it was raining out. Can you guess what’s different about my dog? Comment below.

Lastly, our five chickens! We just got them in October and we get 3 eggs a day. I was too lazy to put on shoes when I took this picture so I slipped into my dad’s. I’m wearing my PJ pants as well.

All my pets have interesting stories about them, comment below if you want to see posts about them. Talk to you soon!

Merry Christmas, From Americangirlguide
